The Effect of Slow Deep Breathing Relaxation Exercise on Pain and Anxiety Levels During and Post-Chest Tube Removal After CABG.

A study published in Critical Care Nursing Quarterly examined whether slow deep breathing relaxation exercises could reduce pain and anxiety in patients undergoing chest tube removal following coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Findings indicated that patients who practiced slow deep breathing experienced lower pain and anxiety levels both during and after the procedure compared to controls. These results suggest that this simple, non-pharmacological intervention may be a practical adjunct for managing procedural discomfort in cardiac surgery recovery.
